Responsibilities Tasks Plan or modify routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) or other navigation devices to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions Be part of a team of two truck drivers or a convoy Load and unload cargo Obtain special licenses and other documents required to transport cargo on international roads Drive trucks or articulated units to transport goods or materials Monitor vehicle condition and perform inspection of tires, lights, brakes, refrigerated storage equipment and other equipment Adjust brakes Perform emergency repairs along the road Inspect trucks before, during and after the trip and monitor all aspects of vehicles Perform preventive maintenance Receive and transmit information to central dispatcher Record information on cargo, service hours, distances traveled and fuel consumption Tarp and ensure cargo safety and security Transport and handle dangerous goods Credentials Credentials (certificates, licenses, affiliations, courses, etc.) Authorization to use air brakes Driver's license (Class 1 or A) Additional Information Safety and Security Bondable Working Conditions and Physical Abilities Attention to detail Physically demanding Repetitive tasks Seated work positions Personal Qualities Flexibility Judgment Organizational skills Teamwork Diligent Patience
