Responsibilities Tasks Calculate the cost of truck repairs and new parts if necessary Plan or modify routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) or other navigation devices to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions Resolve customer complaints and address their concerns Teaching new methods and work techniques to colleagues Professionalism in customer service Load and unload merchandise Monitor the condition of vehicles and perform inspection of tires, lights, brakes, refrigerated storage equipment and other equipment Accept and process merchandise payments Inspect trucks before, during and after trips and monitor all aspects of vehicles Perform preventive maintenance Receive and transmit information to central dispatcher Record information on cargo, service hours, distances traveled and fuel consumption Tarp and ensure cargo safety and security
