Responsibilities Tasks Coordinate access and use of computer networks Install software Install Web server hardware and software Maintain and manage the use of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), mainframe computer networks and peripheral equipment and computerized workstations and troubleshoot them Monitor the performance of computer systems and networks Troubleshoot, maintain and upgrade Web server hardware and software Test and install computer hardware, network software and operating system software Implement data, software and hardware security procedures Perform routine start-ups and shutdowns and maintain control logs Perform data backup and restoration operations Set up local networks and Internet connections Implement network traffic control and security software and optimize server performance
