Responsibilities
Tasks
Plan or modify routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) or other navigation devices to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions
Professionalism in customer service
Operate trucks or articulated units to transport goods or materials
Monitor vehicle condition and perform inspection of tires, headlights, brakes, refrigerated storage equipment and other equipment
Inspect trucks before, during and after travel and monitor all aspects of vehicles
Receive and transmit information to central dispatcher
Record information on cargo, service hours, distances traveled and fuel consumption
Tarp and ensure cargo safety and security
Qualifications
Credentials (certificates, licenses, affiliations, courses, etc.)
Authorization to use air brakes
Category 1/1F/A license (semi-trailers)
Category 5/5F/G license (cars, small trucks and other 2-axle vehicles)
Driver's license (Class 1 or A)
