Responsibilities Tasks Calculate dimensions, sizes, shapes and tolerances of parts to be machined Ensure, using precise measuring instruments, that machined parts meet requirements Program computer-assisted numerical control machine tools Read and interpret plans, maps, drawings and specifications Machine cast parts to manufacture metal molds, core boxes and precision-shaped models Set up and operate spark erosion machining equipment Prepare, shape and assemble metal, wood, plastic and other material templates based on plans or models Set up, firmly secure and measure metal blocks or cast parts and perform necessary markings for their machining Adjust and use conventional and computer-controlled machine tools Read and interpret plans, diagrams and drawings Design tools, dies, templates and equipment Computer-aided design (CAD)
