Responsibilities Tasks
Calculate dimensions, sizes, shapes and tolerances of parts to be machined
Ensure, using precise measuring instruments, that machined parts meet requirements
Program computer-aided numerical control machine tools
Read and interpret plans, maps, drawings and specifications
Machine cast parts to fabricate metal molds, core boxes and precision-shaped models
Set up and operate spark machining equipment
Prepare, shape and assemble metal, wood, plastic and other material templates based on plans or models
Set up, firmly secure and measure metal blocks or cast parts and perform necessary markings for machining
Adjust and operate conventional and computer-controlled machine tools
Read and interpret plans, schematics and drawings
Design tools, dies, templates and apparatus
