Work Environment Residential Commercial Responsibilities Tasks Operate woodworking machines, such as mechanical saws, jointers, mortisers and shapers, to cut, shape and form pieces and components Prepare specifications for custom cabinets that maximize storage space Shape the surfaces or edges of wood pieces using hand tools, such as planes, chisels or wood files Study plans, specifications or drawings of articles to be manufactured Plane joints, assemble pieces and partial assemblies to construct furniture and reinforce joints Sand wood surfaces and apply finish, stain or polish to finished articles; prepare and apply laminated plastics Maintain a clean and safe work environment Estimate costs and materials Repair or remodel wood furniture or fixtures and related articles Experience and Specialization Field of Specialization Kitchen and bathroom cabinetry Additional Information Working Conditions and Physical Abilities Environment where activities occur at a fast pace Manual dexterity Attention to detail Standing for extended periods Weight handled Up to 23 kg (50 lb) Personal Qualities Precise Effective interpersonal relations Organizational skills Team spirit Punctuality
